Personal Statement
When I was in first grade, I wanted to be a first grade teacher. When I was in second grade, I wanted to be a second grade teacher. This pattern continued until I got to high school, where I thought I would become a politician. Then a lawyer. Then a diplomat. The one true constant in my fluid career goals was the desire to help others through my work, whatever it may be.
I worked several jobs and internships throughout college as I tried to figure out where to focus my efforts, such as in a law firm, LA Fashion Week, a celebrity management team, after-school tutoring program, and the Department of State to name a few.
Towards the end of my college career, I began volunteering with the University of Southern California football program “just for fun.” Soon enough, “just for fun” became working 6-7 days a week wherever I could make myself useful. I loved it. I could not get enough of the energy, and I was embraced by program directors who would let me shadow them throughout the day, literally peering over their shoulders trying to absorb everything I could.
Of all the different fields I had tried, college sports is what I simply couldn’t walk away from. Fast forward a few years, and the industry has changed dramatically, which has made me love the profession even more. I find myself in an interesting corner of collegiate athletics having successfully combined my passion for mentorship, creativity, and strategic thinking into a career in name, image, and likeness (NIL) marketing for student-athletes.
The controversy around the future of college sports is exactly why I feel drawn to this space. More than ever, the industry needs good communicators. Creative, strategic thinkers. Protectors. Compassionate leaders who will continue to put student-athletes first. I believe that if these values are truly your guiding pillars, then you must be doing something right.
What started as a love of college football and fascination with game day pageantry has turned into an intense passion for student-athlete mentorship and strategy in college athletics. I still want to have fun, but my mission has evolved into something more sustaining…
Mission: My mission is to be an innovator and industry thought leader in college athletics who prioritizes mentorship, professional development, and experiential learning for student-athletes.
Vision: I want to build a career on my own core values of servanthood, integrity, compassion, and grit so that the student-athletes I work with feel genuinely supported through our interactions, and positively impacted by my industry contributions.
